Activate iPhone 3G from home now

When Apple announced iPhone 3G, no one expected Apple and AT&T to discontinue the in-house activation of the iPhone. Although their motive to discourage iPhone unlockers, it was seriously a pain in the ass for the rule-abiding customers.

Problems :
  • Long lines for buying and delays in activation.
  • Failures of Apple servers due to the overwhelming response to the launch of iPhone 3G.
  • First Generation iPhone owners trying to update the firmware amidst this chaos
In-Home Activation :
On 11th December, AT&T decided to decided to get back the in-home activation again. You can get it delivered at your home (if you're in USA) and then activate it via iTunes. You have to sign an online (digital) agreement before ordering.

Features :
  • It is available only to new customers. Current customers wanting to upgrade have to goto stores for that
  • One has to sign up for the iPhone Data Services online before completing the sales.
  • If the buyer doesn't activate the iPhone 3G in a stipulated time, he / she is subject to an early termination fees.
End Note :

If people expected this to be a easy way to unlock iPhone, I would say, they are more than wrong. With online dataplan activation and early termination fees, its gonna be shit expensive.
